Across the United States, teens are committing suicide at alarming rates.  A top mandatory mental health training for school personnel, legislators have proposed a bill. This bill will maximize access to mental health treatment for elementary and secondary school students.  

The teen suicide crisis is a nationwide public health concern affecting Northeast Ohio disproportionately.  According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), suicide is the third leading cause of death among individuals between 15 and 19 years old, surpassed only by accidents (Murphy, Xu, Kochanek, Curtin, & Arias, 2017).  A youth risk behavior survey conducted by the CDC revealed that 17.7% of American high school students had seriously considered suicide.
