NR 324 Module 4 RUA Case Study 1

F.P. Jones is a 70 year old Caucasian male who came to the Emergency Room with complains of heart palpitations since yesterday evening. The patient states that “he feels like his heart is going to pop out of his chest.” Patient also complains of dyspnea, lightheadedness and fatigue. He also states that he has a history of pulmonary congestion, hypertension, atrial fibrillations and infective endocarditis.

            Upon entry to the ward, his vital signs were checked. His temperature was 103, his pulse was 120, his respirations were at 22, his BP was 150/98 and his SPO2 was at 84%. Based on his vital signs and reported health history, I notified his health care provider. I anticipated that the HCP would order 2 or 3L of oxygen due to his dyspnea and fatigue. Once stabilized and able to breathe on his own, I also anticipated that the health care provider would order an electrocardiogram so that we can know his heart activity………………….Continued (06 Pages with References)
