Introduction

Education has change so much over the years and is constantly being changed or replaced with new ideas. The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) falls into that category. Back in 1965, The Elementary and Secondary Education Act became the national law created by President Lyndon B. Johnson’s administration’s “War on Poverty” campaign. The goal was to improve educational equity for low income families and students by proving federal funds to less fortunate school districts. In 2001, President George W. Bush revamped this act with the No Child Left Behind. By doing so, it “scaled up” the federal role in holding schools accountable for student outcomes (Michael, 2017).
