Organizations can be negatively impacted by whistleblowing and a lack of employees who are willing to blow the whistle on wrongdoing. Whistleblowing can be viewed as dissent among workers and can form mistrust between workers and management which negatively impact the stability of an organization (Dworkin & Callahan, 1991). When whistleblowers are viewed as dissenters among the organization, there is a higher chance of that person being retaliated against or even losing their position. Additionally, a lack of personnel willing to voice potential problems is also troubling for an organization. A lack of ethical leadership means that employees are less likely to blow the whistle on unethical behavior (Fa-Wang, Jian-Qiao, & Jin-Ming, 2016).
