Currently, the leadership in Afghanistan is President Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai and prime minister Abdullah Abdullah. The first order of business for the president is his vow to handle corruption using Afghanistan’s mineral wealth to wean the government off foreign aid. (Najafizada, 2014) The World Bank concludes that Afghanistan economic recovery is slow because of insecurity in private investment and consumer demand. President Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai government plans to reform agenda. In October of 2016, the government presented the new Afghanistan National Peace and Development Framework (ANFDP) which is their plan to achieve self-reliance and increase the welfare of their people.
